Making a Difference, “Getting things Done!” During the 2006-2007 Program Year, over 90% of Northwest Service Academy (NWSA) members surveyed reported their civic engagement and participation skills were “above average” because of their NWSA experience. This confidence was developed by their following accomplishments:
- Completed 450 environmental restoration projects;
- cleared 1,490 acres of non-native plants;
- planted or maintained 201,140 native trees, plants, and shrubs;
- built or maintained 425 miles of trails;
- built or maintained 311 habitat structures;
- built 4 miles (21,362 linear feet) of riparian fencing;
- treated 8.5 acres for wildfire fuels reduction;
- mobilized 8,663 student and 11,924 community volunteers in environmental and educational activities; totaling 104,200 hours of volunteer service in northwest communities;
- engaged 91,300 students and 28,800 community members in environmental education, service-learning, academic support, mentoring, and leadership development activities!

The NWSA Legacy Fund was established in 2004 by a group of individuals interested in investing in the growth and long-term sustainability of NWSA.
